THE FLY at the 2008 Scranton AHL Booster Club Convention
Well convention was Sept. 5,6,7th. Many old timers arrived early on Sept. 4. They had the usual Pub Crawl on Thursday . I saw Norine B., Jeff S., Kris R. on the Crawl as well as Debi B. and Deb G. I saw Debi B. get pushed into the pond and then because her feet were all mud she fell. Thursday night the Baby Penguins hosted the Hospitality room. Boy I saw lots of goodies and drinks. They had several teams vying for 1st prize in TV Land Trivia. I saw lots of people having fun. Friday saw registration open at Noon. Many people took tours. I was flying around and saw Dave S. on the coal mining tour. I started in with him but decided I didn't want to do that. Others went shopping and golfing. Friday night was costume night, the Theme was TV Land. They had
many great costumes. While flying around I saw Betty Waffle from Binghamton dressed as Ugly Betty, Pat Harrington from Cleveland as a nurse from Mash. There was June Cleaver, Lucille Ball, and then while was still flitting around I saw Ann and Virginia P. from Rochester dressed up as Laura and Mary from Little House on the Prairie. Boy I thought they should have won. After Dinner it was singing, dancing and lots of talking. Rookie initiation was held down the hall. Saturday dawned a new day, those Paddock sisters got the table setup early. Donna V., Chris G., Betty E., Paul V., Jeff S., Kris R. and Norine B. came to help sell and relieve those girls. It was then time for the General Meeting. As I flew around the room, I buzzed Howie Lewis' head as he was introducing Joan Schott. You know Joan is President of the Firebirds Booster Club as the President had to resign as he was to busy to with sports. I saw Joan unveil the Photo of the ex President playing hockey. After the meeting I saw some folks go to the Mt Pocono Casino. I was flying around the hotel and I saw a bunch of people playing drink-o. Then I flew off to check the pool and found a group of people in the
pool
. As I flew down to dinner, I saw most of the people were dressed in their finest clothes. But alas as I was flitting around I saw a few people that were not properly dressed for dinner. What a shame. I buzzed Howie and told him about them. Dinner was good. I saw that Norine B. did not like green beans. Ann P. was freezing at dinner as their table was under the air conditioning vent. While flying around I saw that a Phil Bourque was our guest speaker. After dinner I saw a lot of people go get comfortable and go the Hospitality room. Sunday while I was flying around I saw all those people loading their cars and vans and saying good byes. Well I guess I had better fly away now but I will see you all at next years convention.
